Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 12, 2025

This Privacy Policy explains how IndieVana (“we,” “us,” “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you visit indievana.com (the “Site”).

By using the Site, you agree to this Policy and our Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1) Who we are & how to contact us

Operator/Owner: Indievana.com (individual)
Location: Beirut, Lebanon
Email: info@indievana.com

2) What we do

IndieVana curates gaming news and links to third-party websites. Articles may open through “bridge” URLs (e.g., /tmbridge/... or /ivarticle/...) that embed the original page (when allowed) or show a preview (image, title, brief excerpt) plus a link to the source.

3) Information we collect

3.1 Information you provide

  • Contact messages: If you email us or use a contact form, we receive your email address and any information you include.

  • User submissions (if enabled): If you post comments or send other submissions, we receive that content and associated information (e.g., display name).

3.2 Information collected automatically

  • Log data: Your IP address, browser type, device info, referring URL, pages visited, and timestamps (collected by our hosting/server for security and operations).

  • Cookies and similar technologies: Used for site functionality, analytics (if enabled), and advertising (see Section 5).

3.3 Third-party content & embeds

When you open a bridge page or click to an external website, that third party may collect information about you (including via cookies, pixels, or similar). We do not control third-party sites. Their data practices are governed by their own policies.

4) How we use information

  • Provide, operate, and improve the Site (including bridge pages).

  • Respond to inquiries and provide support.

  • Analyze Site performance (if analytics enabled).

  • Prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.

  • Comply with legal obligations.

We process personal information on the basis of our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Site, and to comply with law. Where required, we rely on your consent (e.g., for certain cookies/ads in the EU/EEA/UK).

5) Advertising, cookies & affiliate links

5.1 Cookies & similar technologies

Cookies are small files placed on your device. We use:

  • Essential cookies (site operation/security)

  • Functional/Performance cookies (theme/UI, speed)

  • Analytics cookies (if enabled; see 5.3)

  • Advertising cookies (see 5.2)

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking cookies may affect some features.

5.2 Google AdSense & personalized ads

We display ads via Google AdSense (and possibly other ad partners). These providers may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and/or other websites.

  • Ad vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads; Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on visit(s) to our Site and/or other sites.

  • Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings (https://adssettings.google.com) or the AboutAds consumer choice page (https://www.aboutads.info/choices). EU/EEA/UK users may also see a consent banner to choose ad preferences.

See also Google’s advertising policies and technologies disclosures: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads

5.3 Analytics (if enabled)

We may use analytics services (e.g., Google Analytics) to understand traffic and usage. These tools may set cookies and collect IP addresses, device/browser info, and page interactions.

5.4 Affiliate links (Amazon Associates, etc.)

Some outbound links are affiliate links. If you buy through those links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

  • Amazon Associates: As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. Amazon may set cookies to track referrals. See Amazon’s Privacy Notice: https://www.amazon.com/privacy

6) How we share information

We share information:

  • With service providers (hosting, security, analytics, ad networks) who process it on our behalf under instructions.

  • For legal reasons (to comply with laws, lawful requests, protect rights, safety, or prevent fraud/abuse).

  • During business changes (e.g., transfer in connection with a sale or restructuring—if ever applicable).

We do not sell your personal information.

7) International transfers

We are based in Lebanon. Service providers (e.g., ad/analytics networks) may process data in other countries. By using the Site, you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in jurisdictions with different data protection laws.

We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes described or as required by law (e.g., security logs are typically retained for a short period unless needed to investigate issues).
