The addition of sulfur into Minecraft unlocks all kinds of new possibilities, with one of the more chaotic and fun ones being geysers. Since this feature wasn’t always around, you may be unsure how to make your own geyser.
Crafting interactive features like this one can be tricky, as precision and careful block placement are crucial for making it work the way you intend. If you’re struggling to bring your vision to life, here’s how to make a geyser in Minecraft.

There are two ways to make a geyser in Minecraft. A geyser can be achieved by combining potent sulfur and water with a magma block or lava. Here’s how to make both options work.
The blocks must be placed in exactly the right order to achieve this effect. If you spot noxious fumes on top of your creation, you’ll know you’ve successfully achieved a geyser. This process can be a bit tricky, so if you’re struggling, follow the exact steps we take in the video below to achieve your desired outcome.
A geyser made using a magma block only erupts occasionally, so if you want it to be intermittent, choose this option. If you’re instead seeking constant chaos, make your geyser with lava, as this type starts up right away and never stops.
If you’re seeking a natural geyser rather than one you’ve made, you’ll have to seek out the Sulfur Caves biome. Similar to Sulfur Cubes, geysers only spawn naturally here, so you’ll never find them elsewhere unless you make them yourself.
Geysers push all entities, including both players and mobs, caught within the steam upwards continuously. They don’t cause damage, but if you’re shot up high into the air, you may end up accidentally taking fall damage when you land.

While you’re already exploring around the Sulfur Caves biome to gather the required supplies for geyser making, you may want to check off some other key tasks. Consider working on getting the Bounce music disc and learning all Sulfur Cube archetypes and block absorption effects.
